Thanksgiving is upon us, folks! It's the time of year that reminds us of bounty, the Rose Parade, football, and the connection to our loved ones. Warm faces surrounding a cornucopia of delectable delights. Piled mashed potatoes, candied yams, a bird nearly too big for the oven, a secret family recipe or two. Pies, pies, and more pies. Laughter and loosened pants to accommodate the extra girth of an expanded belly. The gentle grace of a grandmother with a perfect recipe, so happy to stuff you until you burst. “You need to eat more". A beautiful reminder of the things for which we are thankful. Home. Our loved ones.
Unfortunately, this isn't the case for everyone. Some of us will be cold, shaking, alone. The frigid seasonal change can be rough when a shelter is not a possibility. One cold night can have devastating effects. You may be hungry. Possibly sharing warmth with a child we love more than life itself. Scared. Alone. Hopeless. New Life Forward (NLF) has a goal. To encourage life, warmth, generosity.
To do away with the sarcastic ideals of previous generations. We are all of one spirit. We can lift each other up. Give the gift of prosperity without harm. We work with those that want to elevate and alleviate. Please take a moment to remember a gentle heart that touched yours. One that changed your perspective. NLF's goal is exactly that. The desire to uplift humanity. The moratorium on rental housing may soon expire. Companies will leave people in the cold, uncaring of their value, prospects, or emotions. We want to do more. To show the hopeless that the silver lining has not disappeared. That humanity has not abandoned them.
